Somatic therapy 1-1
A space to explore what is happening in your body, your emotions and your life; particularly when talking, thinking or trying to work things out hasn't quite got you where you want to be.
How it WorksBringing attention to what’s happening.
Step 1 Start with What is here
We begin with a conversation about what’s happening for you and what you’d like to explore. You don't need to know exactly what you need before you arrive.
Step 2Explore
We might work with movement, sensation, breath, touch, bodywork, imagination or conversation; following what draws our attention rather than forcing a predetermined process.
Step 3Allow
As we slow down and pay attention, something may shift, become clearer or find expression. We make space to notice what you've discovered and where it might lead.
A space for you
You might come because you're carrying tension or holding patterns that you'd like to explore.
You might feel disconnected from your body, overwhelmed by what's happening in your life, or simply know that something needs your attention.
You might want to understand yourself differently, explore something that keeps repeating, or find a way into an experience that is difficult to put into words.
Or you might simply want some time where you don't have to perform, achieve or take care of anyone else.
Sessions offer space to slow down, listen and explore what is happening in your body and your inner world.
Through movement, touch, bodywork, sensation, breath, imagination and conversation, we can explore what is present and what might be ready to shift.
MER is one of the bodywork approaches I draw on within my 1:1 practice.
It is a hands-on form of bodywork that works with the myofascial system the connective tissue surrounding and supporting muscles and other structures. Through sustained pressure, movement and touch, we can explore areas of tension, restriction and holding in the body.
MER can be particularly useful if you are experiencing persistent muscular tension, physical discomfort, restricted movement or a sense of being held or stuck in your body.
I don't work from a fixed sequence. Sessions are responsive to what you are experiencing and may combine MER with conversation, breath, movement, sensation and other somatic approaches.
You don't need to know whether MER is what you need. We can explore that together in your introductory conversation.
