Somatic Movement
Exploring movement as a way of sensing, discovering and creating.
Somatic movement invites you to slow down, listen differently and become curious about what happens when you allow movement to arise rather than deciding in advance how you should move.
Through movement, creativity, imagination and attention, we explore how we inhabit ourselves, how we relate to others and what becomes possible when we approach familiar ways of being from a different perspective.
There is no choreography to learn and no particular way you need to move. You are guided through a process, with enough structure to support exploration and enough freedom to discover what emerges.
What do we do?
Each journey is curated around a particular theme, season or enquiry.
You might move with your eyes open or closed, work with sensation, rhythm, breath or imagery, respond to music, explore movement in relationship with others, or bring movement into drawing and other creative practices.
Sometimes the work is quiet and inward. Sometimes it is playful, expressive or relational.
You don't need to be a dancer or have any previous experience. The invitation is simply to become curious about your own experience and see where movement takes you.
